Hello Windows Insiders! Today, we’re excited to release Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4435 (KB5044377) to the Beta Channel. This build is packed with new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out to Insiders with the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available turned on.

In this build, we’ve made some exciting changes to the Taskbar. For instance, if you hold Shift and CTRL when clicking on a jump list item in the Start menu or taskbar, it will now launch that item as an administrator, just like if you were to do Shift + CTRL and click the app icon itself. This can be particularly useful for power users who need to access administrator-level functions frequently.

We’ve also tweaked the Dynamic Lighting settings page, adding forward, backward, outward, and inward direction options to the Wave effect and the forward direction option to the Gradient effect. These changes will enhance the overall visual experience and make it easier to customize your display settings.

In terms of fixes, we’ve addressed some known issues, including one that caused WIN + not to work in some cases, as well as another that prevented the X button to close an app window from the taskbar from working for some Insiders.

In addition, we’ve made a fix for the mouse unlocking issue that occurred when using Game Bar on a system with multiple monitors. This should improve the gaming experience for those with multi-monitor setups.

The Copilot key is also getting some love, as we’ve re-enabled this feature with refinements. To ensure apps are secure and private, we’ve limited the apps that can be launched by the Copilot key to those that have opted into this experience. You can find this setting in Settings > Personalization > Text input.

Finally, this build includes a range of fixes for various issues, including ones related to Bluetooth, product activation phone numbers, collector sets, Windows Kernel Vulnerable Driver Blocklist, Windows Hello for Business, Multi-Function Printers, Microsoft Teams, and more.

So, what’s next? As a reminder, Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2 via an enablement package (Build 22635.xxxx). Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback. If you want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, be sure to turn on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update*.
