As we approach the end of November, Microsoft has announced a series of updates to its Cost Management program, aimed at helping organizations improve their financial management and reduce costs in the cloud.

Exports to Microsoft Fabric

One of the most significant updates is the introduction of "Exports to Microsoft Fabric," a feature that enables users to export costs and price datasets directly to the Microsoft Fabric. This will save users time and effort in ingesting cost data into the Fabric from their storage account.

Azure OpenAI Costs and Copilot

For users of the Azure OpenAI Service, there are now two new features available: a built-in view in Cost analysis and an updated Copilot experience. The view allows users to view costs for running all their models across different time periods, including actual and amortized costs. The Copilot experience has been enhanced to provide more accurate estimates for Azure OpenAI token-based deployments.

More Ways to Save Money

In addition to the existing features, Microsoft has introduced several new ways to save money in the Microsoft Cloud. These include an increase in the storage account default egress limit, reduced protected instance fees for Azure backup, and a new promotional offer for Linux VMs.

Documentation Updates

The Cost Management team has also released several documentation updates, providing more information on cost savings with Azure OpenAI provisioned reservations, Red Hat Linux Enterprise software reservations, and Nutanix Cloud Clusters on Azure BareMetal infrastructure. Users can access these updates in the Azure documentation repository on GitHub.

With these updates, Microsoft is making it easier for organizations to manage their costs and optimize their financial performance in the cloud. By leveraging these new features, organizations can reduce costs, improve their bottom line, and focus on their core business priorities.
