Key Points

• Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27758 is now available for testing on the Canary Channel.

• The Microsoft Store will now support updating Win32 apps directly from the Store.

As part of the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27758, Microsoft has introduced a new advanced camera options page, which can be accessed by navigating to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Cameras. This feature allows users to select between two configurations for their camera: Multi-app camera and Basic camera. The Multi-app camera option allows multiple applications to access the camera stream simultaneously, which was developed in collaboration with the Hard-of-Hearing community to enable video streaming to both a sign language interpreter and the end audience at the same time. The Basic camera option enables basic camera functionality for improved debugging.

In addition to the new camera options, the latest build also includes several bug fixes, including issues with File Explorer, Taskbar, Input, Desktop, Task Manager, Narrator, Audio, and Settings. These fixes aim to improve the overall stability and performance of Windows 11.

Microsoft has also announced that the Microsoft Store will now support updating Win32 apps directly from the Store. This means that Insiders can head to the Downloads page and click Get Updates to see if any installed apps of this type have updates available. Insiders can also click the update button on the product page to initiate the update.

Known Issues

  • IMPORTANT NOTE FOR COPILOT+ PCs: If you are joining the Canary Channel on a new Copilot+ PC from the Dev Channel, Release Preview Channel or retail, you will lose Windows Hello pin and biometrics to sign into your PC with error 0xd0000225 and error message “Something went wrong, and your PIN isn’t available”.
  • We are investigating reports that some Insiders are still experiencing rollbacks (with error code 0xc190010) when attempting to install the latest Canary builds.
  • We are working on the fix for an underlying issue causing accent colored window borders to not be displayed when enabled, shadows around windows not displaying when enabled, and window launching (and other) animations to show even though the setting to show animations is turned off.

As a reminder, the builds in the Canary Channel represent the latest platform changes early in the development cycle and may not match any specific release of Windows. Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released, and some may change over time or be removed.
