Microsoft recently released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.5090 (KB5053649) to the Beta Channel for Windows Insiders who did not upgrade to Windows 11, version 24H2. This new build introduces a small set of general improvements and fixes that enhance the overall experience for Insiders running this build on their PCs.
One significant change is the introduction of Chinese support for voice access, allowing users to navigate, dictate, and interact with Windows using voice commands in Simplified Chinese (zh-cn) and Traditional Chinese (zh-tw). This feature is now available to Insiders with the toggle turned on for receiving the latest updates as they become available.
The new build also includes several fixes, including issues with the Start menu, Windows Update, and Login and Lock. For example, the build fixes a problem that caused Windows Tools-related apps to be broken out into folders instead of appearing in a single app. Additionally, the build resolves issues with the login screen crashing when clicking the sign-in options link and a problem that prevented a quality update from being displayed in the Update History window.
However, the build also exposes some known issues, including a delay in app icons appearing in the grid and category views after installing an app and a flashing context menu when right-clicking on an app.
Reminders:
For Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel, Microsoft has implemented a new feature roll-out strategy, which uses Control Feature Rollout technology to gradually release features to a subset of Insiders and then monitor feedback before rolling out the features to everyone. Insiders who want to be among the first to receive new features can turn on the toggle to receive the latest updates as they become available. Those who keep the toggle off will receive features gradually over time once they are ready.
