Hello everyone, if you were in the mood for an action RPG that lets you have complete control of where the story will go and at the same time, it doesn’t require you to play online with others? Say no more, I present to you, Dragon’s Dogma 2, a game you can download or play on Windows 11/10, XBox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. A game most introverts will vouch it is already one of the best games of the year, probably.
How to install Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Windows
In order to install this game on your Windows OS whether that be Windows 11 or Windows 10, just follow the instructions below.
- Choose where you want to download the game from:
- Once you are done downloading it, click the Dragon’s Dogma 2 icon on your desktop or start menu and enjoy.
Now that we’ve gotten the downloading introductions out of the way, let’s find out why this is one of the top 10 most bought/downloaded games on Steam. As the Easter weekend comes to an end, I had to make sure I went ahead and played Dragon’s Dogma 2, I actually hesitated to play it after I saw the mixed reviews on it’s Steam page, I did some digging and found out that the game had a pretty bad launch on March 22, 2024, especially on PC. Apparently according to this Youtube video by Asmongold Clips, the issues were mainly related to performance problems and bugs. Other sources like this video by OhNoItsAlexx focus on the microtransaction which are A LOT, at least at the launch of the game, it’s downright ridiculous and I hope and assume as time goes, based on the user feedback, they will rollback and reduce the amount of crap you have to buy. Let me give you an example, the game already has a character editor/creator right? Guess what, if you want to use it, more than ONCE, you have to pay an additional $1.99, yeah I am NOT kidding. Check the DLC prices below, wow…
List of ALL the Microtransactions via DLC in the game
So now we know why they have a ‘mixed’ review rating, the amount of DLCs and the type of DLCs is way too much, I hope they change their mind about more than half of these and I have a feeling they will if they want people to continue to play their game and recommend it others, they shouldn’t make the same mistakes many before them have.
How is the gameplay like?
Playing Dragon’s Dogma 2 feels like leading a desperate band of adventurers through a world teetering on the brink of apocalypse. You’ll strategize with your AI companions, the Pawns, who are your most important asset in the game, trust me. You get to customize them for different situations although the game, like for me my favorite Pawn type is the archer, at least right now, this is because they can attack from a distance which means that I don’t have to worry about watching them in a big battle, they can take care of themselves for the most part. This doesn’t mean archers are the MOST important no, but from where I am in the game(2 hours of gaming), so far the archers have been better than the rest.
Some players swear by Mages who can unleash powerful spells to change the landscape of any battle, while others prefer a Fighter Pawn who can act like a punching bag and soak up some hits while you runaway(lol) or strategize a plan to take down the enemy.
What tips or strategies work best for me?
Well I have only put in less than 3 hours in the game so far and yes, I spent most of the time away from the main story, what’s the point of having an open world RPG if you are not going to explore it!? Anyway, after googling some of the best Dogma 2 strategies, here are some of the best ones that I’ve come across:
- Mix it Up: Pawns are incredibly versatile. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different Pawn vocations (classes) to find a party composition that complements your playstyle. For example, a Mage Pawn can keep you healed while you focus on offense, while a Fighter Pawn can act as a tank, drawing enemy aggro.
- Climb Like a Champion: Dragon’s Dogma 2 allows you to climb large enemies. This can be a strategic advantage, letting you reach weak points or topple them over for massive damage. Practice your climbing skills and use them to your advantage.
- Talk to Everyone: Many NPCs (non-playable characters) in towns and villages can offer quests, information, or even hire you for jobs. Talking to everyone can help you discover hidden content and earn valuable rewards.
Pros:
- Deep and Rewarding Combat: Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers a unique and strategic combat system that emphasizes climbing enemies, exploiting weaknesses, and utilizing your Pawn companions effectively.
- Highly Customizable Characters: The character creation tools are expansive, allowing you to craft a truly unique Arisen. Pawn customization adds another layer of depth to party composition.
- Rich and Detailed World: The world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is filled with beautiful environments, hidden secrets, and challenging enemies to discover.
- Improved Pawn System: Pawns, the AI companions you can customize and recruit from other players, are smarter and more helpful than in the first game.
- Multiple Playable Vocations: With nine vocations to choose from, each with unique skills and playstyles, there’s a path for every kind of player.
Cons:
- Repetitive Quest Design: Some players find the fetch-and-go nature of many side quests to be repetitive.
- Inventory Management Can Be Tedious: Managing your inventory and Pawn equipment, especially later in the game, can feel cumbersome.
- Fast Travel Could Be Better: The fast travel system is limited, which can lead to backtracking in later stages of the game.
- Performance Issues (PC): Some PC players have reported performance issues, particularly in crowded areas.
- Challenge Curve Can Be Uneven: The difficulty can spike at times, especially for solo players who haven’t optimized their character build or Pawn party.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mods
If you have been visiting this site for awhile, you know that I love mods, they enhance the game way beyond its limits. This is why my PC is now my goto gaming console, I still love my PS5 and Xbox Series X and I will continue to buy consoles but mods are such a big thing for me. I mean look at all the mods that you can play with GTA 5? Console gamers are missing out, I am right? Anyway, so ya, I found some good Dragon’s Dogma 2 mods that I think a lot of you will enjoy trying.
Crazy’s Shop Mod: Crazy’s Shop mod addresses one of the game’s more tedious aspects by adding 999 of several key items to the first shop in Melve. These items, which restock daily, include Elite and Explorer Camping Kits, Wakestones, Portcrystals, Seeker’s Tokens, and Ferrystones, facilitating easier travel and rest throughout the game world.
Art of Metamorphosis Tome: This mod makes the Art of Metamorphosis Tome, an item that allows you to change your character’s appearance, available early in the game at the first merchant in Melve. It provides an alternative to the item’s in-game purchase or microtransaction, offering more accessibility to customize your character’s appearance the way you want and when you want.

NPC Hairstyles: This mod allows you to access hairstyles originally exclusive to non-player characters (NPCs) in the game. Now, both your main character and Pawns can sport the same stylish cuts as characters like Wilhelmina and Ulrika, providing more customization options to personalize your in-game appearance.

Save Manager for Multiple Characters: Dragon’s Dogma 2 by default limits players to a single save file, which can be restrictive. This mod introduces a save management system that enables the creation and management of multiple save files. It allows you to start new games without losing progress on other characters, providing flexibility and the freedom to explore different gameplay styles without commitment.

If you want to check out even more Dogma 2 mods, check this post. Also to make it easier for you, I highly recommend you install the Fluffy Mod Manager which is a mod that helps to install and uninstall tons of mods, its getting more popular each day so I think it is one of those mods that you should probably get used to as every mod in the future will probably support it.
