The company has also developed a Responsible AI Standard, which guides engineering teams building Microsoft AI solutions.
To comply with the EU AI Act, Microsoft is conducting a thorough review of its owned systems to identify any places where it may need to adjust its approach, including updating documentation or implementing technical mitigations. The company is also creating new restricted uses in its internal company policy to ensure it does not design or deploy AI systems for uses prohibited by the EU AI Act.
Microsoft is also working with customers to help them deploy and use its products and services in compliance with the EU AI Act. The company is sharing its knowledge, providing documentation, and offering tooling to support customers’ AI development and deployment activities. Microsoft is also publishing documentation and resources related to the EU AI Act on its Trust Center to provide updates and address customer questions.
Finally, Microsoft is engaged with the central EU regulator, the AI Office, and other relevant authorities to share insights from its AI development, governance, and compliance experience, seek clarity on open questions, and advocate for practical outcomes.
