• Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.5015 (KB5052089) is now available in the Beta Channel for Insiders who didn’t upgrade to Windows 11, version 24H2.

Today, we’re excited to announce the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.5015 (KB5052089) to the Beta Channel. This build is specifically for Windows Insiders who didn’t upgrade to Windows 11, version 24H2. As part of this release, we’re introducing new features, improvements, and fixes that will be gradually rolled out to Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available (via Settings > Windows Update).
Changes and Improvements Gradually Rolling Out:
- A new system tray icon for the emoji and more panel has been introduced, allowing users to easily express themselves using emojis, GIFs, and Kaomoji across all apps and surfaces in Windows. This icon can be changed by right-clicking on it to access taskbar settings.
- Text scaling support has been added to various warning and error message dialogs in File Explorer, making it more accessible.
- Fixes have been made to issues affecting the Snap Bar, File Explorer Home, and Settings > System > About.
Known Issues:
- Start menu: There may be a delay in app icons showing in grid and category views after installing an app. When right-clicking on an app, the "Start settings" context menu may flash before the app’s context menu appears. Windows Tools-related apps are broken out into folders instead of being in a single app.
- File Explorer: There’s an issue causing File Explorer to be slow to close for some Insiders when using the X button.
- Snipping Tool: There’s an issue with the Snipping Tool causing the record button to remain enabled even after stopping a recording.
Snipping Tool Update:
The Snipping Tool has received an update, introducing trim capabilities for editing screen recordings. With trim, users can adjust the start and end times of their screen recordings to cut out unnecessary video snippets. To use the new trim feature, simply record a new screen recording, open the recording in the Snipping Tool, and select the Trim button to adjust the start and end times of your screen recording.
Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel:
- Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel on Windows 11, version 23H2 will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2 via an enablement package (Build 22635.xxxx).
- Many features in the Beta Channel will be rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and gradually ramping up over time as we monitor feedback. For those who want to be the first to get features, you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available (via Settings > Windows Update).
