As Windows Insiders, we are excited to announce the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.4515 (KB5046756) to the Beta Channel. This build brings new features, improvements, and fixes that are gradually being rolled out to Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates.
One of the most significant features being rolled out is the ability to seamlessly resume OneDrive files from your phone to PC. This feature allows you to pick up where you left off editing a OneDrive file, such as a Word doc or Excel spreadsheet, on your phone and continue working on it on your Windows 11 PC with a single click. This feature works only when signing into OneDrive with a Microsoft account and requires your PC to be on Build 22635.4515 or higher.
In addition to this feature, Microsoft is also launching API support for third-party passkey providers, a step towards a passwordless future. This means that Windows customers will be able to choose a third-party provider as an additional choice alongside the native Windows passkey provider while maintaining the Windows Hello user experience.
The company is also releasing updates to WebAuthn APIs to support a plugin authentication model for passkeys. This will enable plugins to create and authenticate with passkeys when requested by the customer, using Windows Hello as a user verification mechanism.
Other changes and improvements being rolled out to the Beta Channel include the ability to right-click and share local files under the Recommended section of the Start menu, a new keyboard shortcut CTRL + ALT + Minus for Magnifier users to quickly toggle between the current zoom and 1X zoom, and several fixes for issues in File Explorer.
As a reminder, Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel will receive updates based on Windows 11, version 23H2 via an enablement package (Build 22635.xxxx). Many features in the Beta Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback.
