Key Points:
• Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27766 is now available in the Canary Channel.
• The build includes general improvements and fixes, but no SDKs will be released for 27xxx series builds.
• Known issues include issues with Windows Hello pin and biometrics on Copilot+ PCs and accent colored window borders not displaying.
As a Windows Insider, you may have noticed that the latest builds in the Canary Channel have been causing some issues. Microsoft has released a new build, Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27766, to address some of these problems.
Changes and Improvements:
This update includes a small set of general improvements and fixes that improve the overall experience for Insiders running this build on their PCs. One of the key fixes is the resolution of an issue where rolling back from Build 27764 to an earlier build would result in an error message when attempting to use or install certain third-party apps.
Taskbar & System Tray:
Microsoft has also fixed an underlying issue that was causing some Insiders in the Canary Channel to experience frequent explorer.exe crashes after clean installing or resetting their PC.
Known Issues:
However, there are some known issues that Insiders should be aware of. For example, if you are joining the Canary Channel on a new Copilot+ PC from the Dev Channel, Release Preview Channel, or retail, you may lose your Windows Hello pin and biometrics. Additionally, accent colored window borders may not be displayed when enabled, and window launching animations may not work even though the setting to show animations is turned off.
Reminders for Windows Insiders:
As a reminder, the builds released to the Canary Channel are the latest platform changes early in the development cycle and should not be seen as matched to any specific release of Windows. Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released, or may change over time. Some features may show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
Insiders should also note that some features may be rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as feedback is monitored. To get off the Canary Channel, a clean install of Windows 11 will be required.
In summary, Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27766 is now available in the Canary Channel, addressing some issues and including general improvements and fixes. However, there are some known issues that Insiders should be aware of, and some features may change or be removed over time.
