How to enable Dark Mode on Windows 11

Enabled dark modeHello everyone, in this guide, we will provide a step-by-step tutorial on how to enable Dark Mode on Windows 11. We received many requests for this tutorial and have finally had the opportunity to create it for you. Follow along to learn how to switch your Windows 11 operating system to a dark color scheme.

Enable Dark Mode on Windows 11 follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Personalization settings by clicking on the Start menu and selecting the gear icon to open the Settings app.
  2. Under the Personalization category, click on the Colors option on the left side of the window.
  3. On the right side of the window, under the Colors section, click on the dropdown menu next to the “Choose your color” option and select the Dark option.

This will change the color scheme of the desktop, Taskbar, Start menu, and other menus to a dark theme with white fonts. It will also include a dark version of the default wallpaper.

NOTE: Dark Mode will only affect certain elements of the Windows 11 operating system and supported apps, such as Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. If you want to apply a dark color scheme to other apps, such as your web browser or Microsoft Office, you will need to manually enable it for those applications and we have actually included how to do that also, keep reading.

Enable Dark Mode for Office apps on Windows 11

To turn on Dark Mode for Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), follow these steps:

  1. Open an Office app.
  2. Click on Options in the bottom-left corner.
  3. Go to the General tab.
  4. Under the “Office Themes” setting, choose the Dark option.

Enable Dark Mode for Google Chrome

To enable Dark Mode for Google Chrome on Windows 11, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the Chrome window to open the menu.
  2. Click on “Settings” from the menu.
  3. In the left-hand menu, scroll down and click on “Appearance.”
  4. Under the “Themes” section, click on the “Dark” option.
  5. The Chrome window will automatically switch to Dark Mode.

Alternatively, you can also enable Dark Mode for Chrome by going to your Windows 11 Settings, clicking on “Personalization,” and selecting the “Colors” option. From there, you can set your “Choose your color” setting to “Dark” to enable Dark Mode for Chrome and other apps on your system.

Enable Dark Mode for Microsoft Edge

To enable Dark Mode for Microsoft Edge on Windows 11, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner of the Microsoft Edge window to open the menu.
  2. Click on “Settings” from the menu.
  3. In the left-hand menu, click on “Appearance.”
  4. Under the “Choose your color” section, click on the “Dark” option.
  5. The Microsoft Edge window will automatically switch to Dark Mode.

Alternatively, you can also enable Dark Mode for Microsoft Edge by going to your Windows 11 Settings, clicking on “Personalization,” and selecting the “Colors” option. From there, you can set your “Choose your color” setting to “Dark” to enable Dark Mode for Microsoft Edge and other apps on your system.
