How is the gameplay like?
I’ve been playing Madden 25 on my Windows 11 PC, and it’s been WAY better than I expected. I knew the game was going to be good, but the actual experience has exceeded my expectations.
This game beautifully blends traditional sports simulation elements with stunning visual enhancements, especially on an OLED monitor.
In Madden 25, gameplay is both intense and deeply strategic, much more than last years game, I can at least confirm that right off the bat! Whether you’re running the ball with Derrick Henry or planning to trick the defense with a play-action play with Lamar Jackson(lol trust me, I have beaten a few people over and over with this play), the controls feel smooth and responsive.
Switching between plays and adjusting strategies mid game is seamless, which is crucial if you are playing online or in Superstar mode.
One of the standout features is the game’s visual design, especially with HDR and ray tracing enabled. The graphics are incredibly realistic, making it feel like you’re watching a real NFL game. The attention to detail in the stadiums, crowds, and lighting effects adds a layer of immersion that previous iterations just didn’t have.
The game also shines in its team management and progression. As you play through different matches, you unlock new strategies and refine your playstyle, keeping the gameplay fresh and exciting as you progress.
If you’re a fan of sports games or just love football, Madden 25 is definitely worth your time, yes, I know it’s not the overall big change we want but we don’t have anything else to play because EA owns the only license with the NFL and NFLPA so this is the best we are going to get, unfortunately.
What tips and strategies work best for me in Madden NFL 25?
Okay, I am a true vet of the Madden franchise, I have been playing Madden games since the late 90s, I think since like 96-97 when I was just a little kid but my dad knew how much I loved video games and football so he always made sure to get me the latest game, even if he got it a few months or a year after it came out, lol, I miss my dad!(RIP)
First, mastering Madden 25’s passing options is key:
There are three types of passes; Lob, Bullet, and Touch, that offer different advantages depending on the situation. For example, a Lob pass is great for deep routes where you have a lot of space, while a Bullet pass is perfect for fitting the ball into tight windows quickly. My current favorite pass type is the Touch Pass. It’s the perfect balance between Lob and Bullet, especially when trying to drop the ball just over the linebackers but in front of the safeties.
Timing your runs and using Ball Carrier moves is another essential skill:
Madden 25 emphasizes precise control when running the ball. Rushing to hold down the sprint button will often lead to poor blocking and quick tackles. Instead, use moves like the Juke and Spin effectively, and only hit the sprint button once you’re in the open field. Trust me, your running game will improve significantly if you master these techniques.
When it comes to beating defenses, don’t just focus on one tactic. Madden 25’s defenders are smarter than ever, and mixing up your strategy is crucial. Against man defense, try using Angle (Texas) routes, Comeback routes, and Post routes. For zone defense, utilizing the Flood concept with three receivers on one side of the field is highly effective.
BONUS tip: Usually when I am playing man to man coverage with the receivers, I switch to the free safter who is usually in Zone and lean towards one side of the ball, this usually forced most people to try to the throw over the middle or the opposite side because they assume it will be one on one, BUT, the secret lies in the OTHER safety, the strong safety, quickly switch to him, regardless if he is on man coverage and make him run towards where your free safety was supposed to be, trust me, practice doing this and you will either force an interception or the QB will panic and get sacked, check the screenshot below for an example:

Explore every formation you can think of, yes even THAT one:
Audibling and using different formations based on what the defense shows you can make a huge difference. It’s not just about having a single favorite play but being able to switch things up on the fly to exploit weaknesses in the opponent’s defense.
Lastly, patience is your best friend:
Madden 25 is all about timing and strategy, especially on defense. Whether it’s waiting to see the offense’s formation before picking your play, or mixing in a surprise Blitz, taking your time to plan each move will often lead to better results. So, if you find yourself getting beaten, take a step back, reassess your approach, and dive back in with a new game plan.
Pros:
- Enhanced Physics and Tackling: The new FieldSENSE technology and BOOM Tech make one on one tackles feel more realistic and dynamic.
- Improved Animations: New catching and blocking animations add to the game’s realism, particularly with sideline throws and defensive schemes.
- Deep Franchise Mode: The revamped Franchise mode offers dynamic storylines and an immersive draft experience, making team management more engaging.
- Superstar Mode Satisfaction: The updated Superstar mode provides a satisfying progression system, from Combine drills to becoming a league legend.
- Variety of Game Modes: Ultimate Team, Franchise, and Superstar modes offer diverse gameplay experiences, catering to different types of players.
Cons:
- Mixed Graphics Performance: While some visuals are impressive, there are occasional inconsistencies and graphical glitches.
- Limited Innovation in Core Gameplay: Despite the new features, some players feel that the core gameplay hasn’t evolved significantly from previous editions.
- Ultimate Team’s Microtransactions: The heavy focus on microtransactions in Ultimate Team mode remains a point of contention.
- Stale Commentary: Despite adding new broadcast teams, some reviewers feel that the commentary doesn’t bring enough freshness to the game.
- Underwhelming Free Agency: The free agency system in Franchise mode feels tedious and lacks the excitement it should offer.
Madden NFL 25 Video Review
*If you want a full review of this game, I would recommend you check out this YouTube video by a guy named Vin Productions. In this review, he raves about the game’s amazing graphics, especially when played on an OLED monitor with HDR and ray tracing enabled. He doesn’t mention any significant issues, but he does express how much he loves the game, and I have to say, I’m loving it so far too but not the way he is, and I think he must be playing on the lowest difficulty setting or something lol.
