The new offering, 5G Private Network with Enterprise AI, will enable real-time AI applications and workloads over Verizon’s private 5G network, powered by Mobile Edge Compute (MEC).
According to reports, Nvidia’s AI Enterprise software platform and NIM microservices will be integrated into the solution, allowing for seamless deployment and management of AI workloads. Verizon engineers will begin demonstrating this solution in early 2025, promising plug-and-play ease of use.
This platform will support multitenancy, accommodating various use cases and customers, and can be deployed on-premises or through portable private network connectivity. The platform will also scale on demand to meet specific application needs, providing flexibility and scalability.
Srini Kalapala, senior vice president of technology and product development at Verizon, highlighted the benefits of the collaboration, stating, "We’re leveraging our network’s unique strengths, including private networks and Verizon’s global leadership in private MEC, combined with Nvidia’s AI compute capabilities, to enable real-time AI applications that require security, ultra-low latency, and high bandwidth."
The software stack is designed to handle compute-intensive applications, including generative AI, large language models, video streaming, broadcast management, computer vision, AR/VR/XR, AMR/AGV, and IoT. This partnership has significant implications for enterprises seeking to leverage AI capabilities on their own premises, leveraging Verizon’s 5G network and Nvidia’s AI expertise.
