Microsoft has been showcasing the power of its DirectML technology in October, highlighting the incredible AI innovations that can be achieved with the new Copilot+ PCs. Windows’ diverse hardware ecosystem has empowered developers to create and deploy AI-driven applications, and Microsoft is committed to making this process even easier with DirectML.
One of the most exciting announcements comes from Adobe, which has enabled the machine learning efficiency of its latest Intel Core Ultra processors on Copilot+ PCs. This has led to the development of the Audio Category Tagger feature, which automatically tags audio clips as sound effects, music, dialog, or ambience. This feature has been made possible through a collaboration between Adobe, Intel, and Microsoft, using DirectML as a beta capability in Adobe Premiere Pro.
Capture One, a popular imaging software used by commercial studio photographers, has also showcased two advanced AI-powered features on Copilot+ PCs. The Match Look feature uses AI selection to dynamically adjust multiple editing sliders, giving users a strong starting point for editing and color grading. The AI Crop feature allows users to make instant and consistent crops, eliminating errors and reducing manual effort.
Affinity Photo 2, a popular image-editing app, has also accelerated its Object and Subject Selection capabilities using NPU on Copilot+ PCs. This feature uses machine learning to quickly isolate and segment objects within an image, giving artists a shortcut to the "real" creative work.
These innovative features are made possible through Microsoft’s DirectML technology, which allows developers to scale their AI innovations across Windows devices with ease.
