Hi Windows Insiders, I’m excited to announce that we’re releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.2992 (KB5050083) to the Dev Channel. This update brings a range of new features and improvements, with a focus on enhancing the search experience on Copilot+ PCs.

Improved Windows Search

The most prominent change is the introduction of improved Windows Search with semantic indexing, which allows you to search for files, documents, and settings using natural language. This means you can type what’s on your mind to find what you’re looking for, rather than relying on exact keywords. This feature is exclusive to Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs for now, but support will arrive for AMD and Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs in the future.

The search bar on your taskbar and in File Explorer now supports semantic search, as does the Settings app. You can search for files, documents, and photos by describing what they are, rather than just their names. For example, you can search for "bridge at sunset" to find images, or "Europe trip budget" to find documents. This is a powerful tool that can make your search experience more intuitive and efficient.

Other Changes and Improvements

In addition to the improved Windows Search, this build includes a range of other changes and improvements. These include a new Refine text action for Click to Do, which allows you to refine your text in Photos and Paint apps. You can also use the new keyboard shortcut CTRL + ALT + Minus to quickly toggle between 1X zoom and the current zoom level in the Magnifier.

Feedback and Known Issues

As with any new build, there are some known issues and feedback opportunities. We’ve listed these in the Known Issues section below, along with information on how to provide feedback. Your input is crucial in helping us shape the future of Windows.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel

If you’re in the Dev Channel, you can opt-in to receive the latest updates as they’re available. This will give you a head start on new features and improvements, but don’t worry if you prefer to stick with the stable build. Many features will roll out gradually over time, and you can always enable the toggle to get the latest updates as they become available.

Remember, the Dev Channel is a preview of upcoming features and experiences, which may change or be removed entirely. Feedback is essential in helping us shape the future of Windows, so please keep an eye out for updates and share your thoughts with us.

Thanks for being part of the Windows Insider program, and we look forward to continuing to work with you to create an even better Windows experience!
