Key points:
• Microsoft introduces Azure AI Foundry, a unified platform for building, customizing, and managing AI applications and agents at scale
• The platform includes a new agent framework for orchestrating multi-agent systems and a feedback system for continuous improvement
• The company also introduces AI Red Teaming Agent, which systematically probes AI models to uncover safety risks, and agentic evaluations for comprehensive risk and quality assessments
As Microsoft marks its 50th anniversary, the company is excited to announce new capabilities in its Azure AI Foundry platform. The platform is designed to help developers build, customize, and manage AI applications and agents at scale, with a focus on simplicity, security, and relies on feedback systems and advanced observability.
Azure AI Foundry
Azure AI Foundry is a unified platform that includes a range of pre-built components, standardized processes, and continuous improvement mechanisms. It allows developers to design, customize, and manage AI applications and agents, and is already being used by over 60,000 customers. The platform is built on the open-source kit Semantic Kernel, which simplifies the orchestration of multi-agent systems.
New Capabilities
The company is introducing several new capabilities to the platform, including:
- A new agent framework for orchestrating multi-agent systems, which simplifies the coordination of agents and reduces the code developers need to write.
- AI Red Teaming Agent, a new agent that systematically probes AI models to uncover safety risks, and integrates with Azure AI Foundry’s robust evaluation systems.
- Agentic evaluations, which provide comprehensive risk and quality assessments, and empower teams to build trustworthy, compliant, and advanced AI agents from day one.
Feedback System
Azure AI Foundry includes a feedback system that enables a continuous improvement cycle through real-time telemetry and user feedback. This approach is complemented by an advanced observability suite, which provides evaluations, tracing, and A/B testing, giving developers unprecedented visibility into agent behaviors and outcomes.
Meeting Developers Where They Work
Microsoft is also extending its collaboration with GitHub, starting with the launch of GitHub Models to its 150 million-strong developer community, and more recently through open integrations with Azure AI Foundry and widely used open-source frameworks. The company is also making Visual Studio Code even more powerful by making agent mode in GitHub Copilot available to all users.
Building the Future Together
As Microsoft marks its 50th anniversary, the company is looking forward to the exciting possibilities ahead, and invites developers to join it at Microsoft Build from May 19-22, 2025, in Seattle and online, to learn more about what’s next for Azure AI Foundry.
In summary, Azure AI Foundry is a powerful infrastructure that provides developers with the tools they need to create intelligent agents at scale, with a focus on simplicity, security, and reliability.
