Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.3671 Release

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.3671 (KB5055622) to the Beta Channel for Windows Insiders on Windows 11, version 24H2. This build includes several new features and improvements, as well as fixes for known issues.

One of the key new features is taskbar icon scaling, which ensures that users have quick access to more of their favorite apps, even when the taskbar is full. The feature can be customized to suit individual preferences, with options to show smaller icons when the taskbar is full, never, or always.

Sharing files in Windows is also getting easier and quicker with the new drag tray feature. When users start dragging a local file from File Explorer or their desktop, a handy tray appears at the top of the screen, allowing them to drop the file into one of the displayed apps or choose "More…" to open the Windows share window.

The test remediation package for quick machine recovery (QMR) is now available for Windows Insiders to experience the full capabilities of QMR in action. The remediation package "Quick machine recovery update for Windows 11" will be automatically installed by QMR when "test mode" is activated.

Changes and Improvements

Several changes and improvements have been rolled out to the Beta Channel, including:

  • Recall (Preview): a new basic search history feature is being tried out, allowing users to search for and open recent files and documents.
  • Click to Do (Preview): a new action within Click to Do allows users to ask Copilot for assistance, and the selected text or image is handed off to the Copilot app for completion.
  • Studio Effects: for Windows Insiders on PCs that support Studio Effects, a notification toast will pop up when automatic framing filter is enabled.
  • Input: mouse-related settings are now available directly under Settings > Accessibility > Mouse and Settings > Accessibility > Mouse pointer and touch without needing to go into Control Panel.
  • Fixes: several fixes have been rolled out for improved Windows Search, graphics, and Hyper-V.

Known Issues

Several known issues are being investigated and fixed, including:

  • Quick Assist will not work for non-administrator users.
  • Windows Sandbox will not work in this build or is available to be installed. This is fixed in the next flight.
  • Some Insiders may experience an issue where Recall is unable to automatically save snapshots, and the setting can’t be turned on in Settings.

Conclusion

The release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.3671 to the Beta Channel marks an important step forward in the development of Windows 11, version 24H2. The new features and improvements included in this build aim to make Windows more efficient, convenient, and enjoyable for users.
