Microsoft Announces Updates to Copilot App on Windows
Microsoft is beginning to roll out an update for the Copilot app on Windows, bringing several improvements to the user experience. The update is available on the Microsoft Store and is being released across all Insider Channels.
One of the main features of the update is file search, which allows users to search, open, and ask questions about the contents of files on their device. This feature supports a wide range of file types, including .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .txt, .pdf, and .json. Users can adjust their permissions for what Copilot can access, retrieve, or read in the Copilot Settings under Permission settings.
Additionally, the update introduces Copilot Vision on Windows, which allows users to share any browser or app window with Copilot. Copilot can then analyze, offer insights, or answer questions to help with tasks being performed in the shared window. To get started, users can click the glasses icon in their composer, select the browser window or app they want to share, and ask Copilot for assistance.
The Copilot app update, version 1.25034.133.0 and higher, is gradually rolling out to all Insider Channels. However, not all Insiders will receive the update immediately, as it is being deployed in a phased manner. Microsoft is excited to be previewing these improvements with Insiders to ensure a smooth user experience on Windows.
